So it’s already June…

…and I have yet to get on my bike…

…and surprise, surprise, there hasn’t been an update in a while. So here’s some pictures of some stuff that’s been going on!

I drew a dragon head.

I saw some deer. 5 together in a group.

There was some lightning. OK, a lot of lightning and a tornado (not here, but in another town)

We snuggled.

I brewed some beer. It is tasty.

A different type of evening.

I finally did some brewing after MONTHS. I’ve learned that buying a Brita filter as opposed to 5 1 gallon jugs of water is NOT the way to go. Brita filters take a year and a day to filter even half a gallon of water. I took a quick 8 minute trip to the convenience store at the end of the street because I didn’t want to wait for another age to pass for two gallons out of the Brita.

At any rate, my Honey Amber is ‘doing its thing.’ Here’s hoping it comes out good.

While I was waiting for things to start boiling and the Brita to filter, I started reading my Gramma’s extensive diary. I started reading when she was about 10 or 11. Most of it is just day-to-day, not that exciting. But I came to the realization that my life is pretty boring. My whole existence has been pretty boring. Gramma could tap dance in sixth grade and knew she wanted to be an actress (which she did, not professionally).

Plus she had all these little sketches. So cute.

Did I mention she was born in 1919 and will be 92 at the end of May?

This is my favorite label. I’ll have to get the actual image at another time.

Akira is so tubby, wouldn’t move her fat butt to let me take pictures!

Should be ready by mid-July!

Treberbrot

It’s been a busy week and I haven’t had time to update. I brewed a red on Memorial Day and dried the leftover spent grains to put into bread. I wanted to re-use what I could instead of just throwing them away. I looked up what to do with the grains and the number one result was bread.

Treberbrot: Spent Grain Bread or Treberbrot (the German word for spent grain is Treber) is a hearty bread that is made with the addition of spent grain from the brewing process. The spent grain adds some sweetness, texture and a lot of fiber to the bread.

treberbrot!
