The swirly “paisley” part is PMC3, the rest is stuff from the jewelry store. Jump rings and earring posts and beads that kind of go with the swirly part. I sketched out the concept and the made the first version out of polymer clay so I could test textures. I have this one texture plate I bought on clearance, so I was seeing which parts would look best. Then I made the swirly out of the PMC and cut and sanded it until I was satisfied. The holes were drilled with my drill and it has a tiny orange citrine in the top. I still might add some oxidation chemical to the swirly to make the texture stand out more.

My boyfriends mother does miniatures. She invited us to a class. We made food… at 1″ scale (which is 1 inch equals 1 foot in real life). These are my creations from the ‘lumberjack breakfast’ and ‘spaghetti dinner.’

They came out pretty good, but I don’t think I’ll delve into that. Too small for my taste.

Made with PMC3; a fancy concoction of silver particles in clay. You can work it like clay, let it dry, then fire it. Some magic happens and then you get a silver ring! Pretty neat. Next I’ll need to get a tumbler to do all the polish work for me.

Unfortunately, the ring had broken while I was sanding it pre-fire. I patched it and fired it. It held up to a day of wear, then broke this morning in the same place as the patch. I guess I didn’t do such a great job patching it. Oh well. I could try to patch it again, but I think I’m just going to leave it start something new. It worked out pretty dang well for a first project so I’m happy enough with it.

Update: I fixed the ring.

On another note, this weather is ridiculous I could start biking today… This summer is going to be ghastly hot, me thinks….

The crow and goldfinch were my “design.” The hummingbird was modified from Angela’s hummer. The cardinal and bluejay are pretty much copies.
